Class A OTR Company Driver

Vela Transport LLC is a long established, family owned transportation company, located in Grand Rapids, MI. We are looking for OTR drivers to drive long distances for us.

This position consists of driving a company truck (tractor trailer) over an established route to deliver products and pick-up products from customers’ places of business.

Majority of work is in midwestern states, but you will be sent all over the lower 48.

Type of Freight:

• 53 foot Dry Vans

• No touch

• No hazmat

• No Canada/Mexico

• No NYC

Compensation:

• Paid loaded and empty miles (after 50 miles)

• $0.55-0.75 CPM based on experience, time working for Vela, and driving record

• Weekly cash advance

Time off:

• Negotiable home time.

• 1 week of paid vacation time per year

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of cdl experience

• No drug and alcohol violations in the last 2 years

• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues

• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts

• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures

• Collect and verify delivery instructions

• Report defects, accidents or violations

Skills:

• Proven work experience as a truck driver

• Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)

• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly

• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations

• No recent moving or driving violations

• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)

• Valid CDL
